Lumbini is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam, who later became known as Lord Gautam Buddha. It is a significant pilgrimage destination located in the southern Terai plains of Nepal. Lumbini is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument List. The main attraction of this area is the Ashoka pillar set by the Indian emperor Ashoka in Lumbini. Other attractions include the Maya Devi Temple, The Crane Sanctuary, a Sacred Garden spread over 8 sq km, and the sacred pond Puskarni where Mayadevi bathed before giving birth to Gautam Buddha. Lumbini also has numerous monasteries that have been built by many countries.

Tilaurakot, the actual capital of Kapilvastu and the home of King Suddhodhan, is believed to be where Lord Buddha spent his first 29 years. Chinese travelers from over 2,500 years ago reported seeing many stupas, monasteries, and palaces in Tilaurakot. Kudan, located 4.5 km south of Tilaurakot, consists of a large mound of ruins and a nearby pond that may have been the remains of stupas and monasteries. This is where King Suddhodhana met Lord Buddha for the first time after his enlightenment.

Gotihawa, located about 3 km southwest of Taulihawa, is an important site for the Buddhist community and has historical and archaeological significance. It is believed to be the birthplace and Nirvana site of Krakuchanda Buddha, who came before Shakyamuni Buddha. The area outside the modern village of Gotihawa contains brick structures of stupas and monasteries. In the center of the main mound, there are the remains of a broken Ashokan Pillar on a slab. Next to the Pillar, on the northeast side, there is a large stupa with rings of wedge-shaped ancient bricks, identifying it as the Nirvana Stupa of Krakuchanda Buddha. The villagers still use an ancient well in the center of the village.

Get a private transfer from Lumbini to Pokhara and meet your driver. The travel time is approximately 6 hours.

Your trek guide will meet the party and transfer them to the starting point of the walk. This drive will last about 1 hour and there will be stops for photographing the stunning Annapurna panoramas. Once you reach the village of Lumle at 1610 meters altitude, a 1.5 hour walk will take you to the Gurung village Majgaun. After approximately 45 minutes, you will arrive at Chandrakot village, situated at 1580 meters altitude, offering breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Fishtail Mountain, and the Modi valley. From Chandrakot, the trail continues through a forested area for another 45 minutes, leading to the Gurung lodge at 1450 meters altitude. After lunch, a visit to the local village of Majhgaun will be arranged. An information session will take place at a local house owned by one of the lodge staff, showcasing the traditional village life and tools. On the way to the village, a visit to the local school will also be included, which is only a 15-minute walk from the lodge.

Start your day with tea and coffee in your room followed by capturing the breathtaking scenery from various spots around the lodge. After breakfast, embark on a 1 ½ hour trek back to the village of Lumle, where you can soak in the tranquil panoramic views of the valley and mountains while taking stunning photos. On the way back to Pokhara, make a stop at a Tibetan Refugee Camp to explore the temple complex.
